A sequel to the previous published work “Flight”, this new work is a miniature tone poem for wind band that describes the voyage on a ship into the vast ocean. “Voyage to the End of the Earth” was commissioned by the St. Anthony’s Canossian Primary School Concert Band as their selection for the Singapore Youth Festival 2012—Central Judging of Concert & Brass Bands (Primary Level). The music opens with the impression of the ocean’s tranquility before the ship sets sail to embark on its journey towards the horizon. The sailor’s bell and ship’s horn are heard, signifying the beginning of the voyage, which is then followed by the lyrical Song of the Ocean where the beautiful maritime sight is accompanied by the calls of the surrounding whales and seagulls. Allow this work to conjure all of Mother Nature’s beauty to your imagination!
